Mason forward Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe was one of 65 college seniors invited to participate in the 2009 Major League Soccer (MLS) adidas Player Combine.
The event will be held Jan. 9-13, 2009, at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Only two other Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) players, Old Dominion midfielder Trevor Banks and James Madison midfielder Nick Zimmerman, received the invitation.
The coaching and management staffs of all 15 MLS teams will attend to scout talent at the Combine, which concludes two days before the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. The 2009 MLS SuperDraft will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, in St. Louis, Mo.
At the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, 43 of the 56 players drafted participated in the 2008 adidas MLS Player Combine; 12 combine players were selected in the first round.
Adjeman-Pamboe earned first team All-CAA honors this season after leading Mason and ranking among the top 10 in the CAA in goals (9), assists (7) and points (25). He was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the CAA Soccer Championship after contributing four goals and an assist in three Patriot wins at the event.
In addition to being invited to the MLS adidas Player Combine, Adjeman-Pamboe earned NSCAA First-Team All-South Atlantic Region honors. Adjeman-Pamboe was joined by UNCW’s Devan Carroll as the only representatives from the CAA on the first team. The CAA garnered 13 selections to the three teams.
The initial player list was determined by a select panel of Division I college coaches representing all conferences who nominated and voted for players in conjunction with MLS coaches.
The 2009 adidas MLS Player Combine will separate all players into four teams. Two games per day will be played on Jan. 10, 11 and 13. Each team will be led by an experienced Division I coach and will be assigned a youth coach, to be named at a later date.
