All offices and buildings on the Mason campuses will close for the winter holidays beginning at close of business on Tuesday, Dec. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009.
University administrative offices reopen on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009.
The final posting of the Mason Gazette for the year will be on Dec. 19. The Gazette will resume publishing on Jan. 5, 2009.
Spring semester classes begin on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009.
Faculty and staff who need access to a locked building without electronic access during the winter holiday period will need to contact University Police at 703-993-2810.
In those cases, an officer will be dispatched to meet at the building entrance. The staff member must be prepared to display George Mason University faculty or staff identification card and the room key for interior offices.
Police officers will not be authorized to grant access to interior offices or work spaces. Entrance to buildings with electronic access is the same as any other time the buildings are locked.
For special needs or for students needing access, the police will maintain a holiday access list, which may be pre-approved and authorized by the faculty member responsible for the area.
The authorization is available on the University Police web site. These forms must be submitted to the University Police contact no later than noon on Friday, Dec. 19. The Police Department fax number is 703-993-2865 and the mailstop number is 3D3.
