In an annual tradition, the Staff Senate, in conjunction with Parking Services and Mason’s Faculty and Staff Holiday Party on Dec. 16, will sponsor a toy and food drive.
Toys will go to the Marine Corps Reserves’ Toys for Tots program, and food items will be donated to New Hope Housing Inc.
According to Sharon Littley, Staff Senate Toys for Tots chair, donated toys should be new and unwrapped for a girl or boy. Canned or boxed food items will be accepted. Staff Senate “Santas” will gladly accept toys and/or food donations in the Johnson Center Cinema lobby during the holiday party from 3 to 5 p.m.
The Parking Services donation program is now in progress. See the Gazette article for more information.
Toys for Tots is a 60-year tradition of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity. Marines have distributed more than 500 million toys to more than 250 million needy children over the program’s history.
