Men’s Soccer Advances to CAA Championship Semifinal

No. 3 George Mason (11-6-2, 6-4-1 CAA) scored five second-half goals to put away the sixth-seeded Hofstra Pride (6-9-4, 5-3-3 CAA) by a final score of 5-0 in a Colonial Athletic Association Championship quarterfinal match on Nov. 11. The five goals set a school record for goals scored in a CAA Championship match.
With the win, the Patriots advance to the semifinal round of the CAA Championship. Mason will face the No. 2 seed in the tournament, the William and Mary Tribe, on Friday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of top-seeded UNC Wilmington in Wilmington, N.C.
In the day’s other semifinal, the Seahawks will take on No. 5 Northeastern at 5 p.m. Northeastern advanced to the semifinal round after winning a penalty kick shootout against No. 4 Old Dominion on Tuesday. After playing 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Huskies knocked down five penalty kicks to the Monarchs’ four to advance to the next round.
In the game against Hofstra, senior forward Lucas Pardew, two-time CAA Player of the Week Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe, freshman midfielder Ryan Gracia, sophomore midfielder Anthony Han and sophomore forward Parker Walton scored goals for the Patriots. Junior goalkeeper Sean Kelley posted his eighth shutout of the season with six saves in 90 minutes of action.
Seniors Jonathan Borrajo and Hugh Fike, sophomore Irvin Martinez, Adjeman-Pamboe and Walton were credited with assists.
