Legendary pianists Emanuel Ax and Yefim Bronfman will come together in an extraordinary performance at Mason’s Center for the Arts on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 4 p.m.
Center audiences have the opportunity to witness these two Grammy Award-winning musicians as they create a delightful and emotionally charged listening experience.
The program includes Brahms’ Variations on a Theme by Haydn, Bolcom’s Recuerdos for Two Pianos, Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major and Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances.
Ax and Bronfman recently collaborated for the first time on two albums showcasing works by Rachmaninoff and Brahms. They also recently partnered together to perform Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos under the baton of Lorin Maazel for the New York Philharmonic’s opening gala, which was broadcast live on national television.
Each season, Ax’s distinguished career includes appearances with major symphony orchestras worldwide, recitals in the most celebrated concert halls, a variety of chamber music collaborations, the commissioning and performance of new music and additions to his acclaimed discography on Sony Classical.
Bronfman is widely regarded as one of the most talented virtuoso pianists performing today. His commanding technique and exceptional lyrical gifts have won him consistent critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences worldwide, whether for his solo recitals, his prestigious orchestral engagements or his rapidly growing catalogue of recordings.
