For the second year in a row, Mason has been named one of the 50 best places to work for persons 50 years of age and older by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).
Mason and the 49 other honorees will be recognized at a special AARP ceremony set for Oct. 7 in Chicago.
“We are honored to receive this important recognition from the AARP,” says Mason President Alan Merten.
“Maintaining a vibrant and productive workplace for men and women of all ages is something we take very seriously. The end result is an institution that is efficient and dynamic and that serves its region and students well.”
The AARP recognized Mason for its support of flextime and telework options for employees. Other initiatives for employees at Mason include a number of recognition programs and awards; discount tickets at the Center for the Arts, athletic events, the bookstore and the fitness center; active Faculty and Staff Senates; vanpool and carpool programs; and financial training sessions.
Mason’s current workforce totals approximately 5,800.
