Plans for a new Student Veterans Center that will provide support for all military students, whether they are currently serving or veterans, to help them reintegrate into the academic community, is currently in the development stages.

The center will provide services ranging from helping students receive their GI benefits to supporting those who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder or other disabilities.

Candidates for a military and veterans liaison are currently being considered. This person will be instrumental in advocating on behalf of Mason’s military students. The liaison will also be responsible for building programs for veteran students while engaging on all levels with faculty, staff, students and Mason administration to meet the needs of the fast-growing number of students entering the classroom.

The four final candidates for the liaison position will be at Mason this week. Each candidate will be available for discussion with the general community and during sessions set aside for military students.
