These recent films treat a range of crucial social issues in Italy today, from immigration to unemployment. Some of the experimental shorts were filmed in the United States and Brazil.
According to Kristina Olson, Mason’s Italian Language Program coordinator, the quality of this selection competes with the best of contemporary Italian film festivals such as the Open Roads festival at Lincoln Center.
Edward Bowen (MA, Middlebury College; MA University of Wisconsin at Madison) is the curator of this event, which is free and open to all.
Sponsors include Mason’s Department of Modern and Classical Languages, the Film and Media Studies Program, Global Affairs and the Center for Global Education. The event is also hosted by Middlebury College, the College of William and Mary and James Madison University.
