Slayden Re-elected Chair of Faculty Senate

At the final meeting of the academic year on Wednesday, the Faculty Senate elected Suzanne Slayden, associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry, to a third term as chair of the senate for the 2008-09 year.

In other action, the senate approved changes in the Faculty Senate Bylaws to provide that a quorum for senate meetings consists of a majority of the elected members, instead of all members, including ex officio. The same applies to the requirement for the number of signers to a petition for a special meeting to be called.

The senate also approved a revised Federal Financial Conflict of Interest Policy.
