BOV Approves Summer Tuition and Fees

At its meeting on Wednesday, the university’s Board of Visitors (BOV) voted to adopt a new tuition and fee schedule for the 2008 summer session.

  • In-state undergraduates will pay $313.50 per credit hour, an increase of $28.50 over last year.

  • In-state graduate students will pay $371 per credit hour, an increase of $34 over last year (some specific graduate programs have higher rates).

  • Out-of-state undergraduates will pay $904.50 per credit hour, an increase of $82.50 over last year.

  • Out-of-state graduate students will pay $929.50 per credit hour, an increase of $84.50 over last year (some specific graduate programs have higher rates).

  • In-state law students will pay $651 per credit hour, an increase of $54 over last year.

  • Out-of-state law students will pay $1,111 per credit hour, an increase of $92 over last year.

In other action, the BOV voted to

  • Continue with plans to develop the university-based retirement center concept

  • Approve the Mason Faculty Practice Plan concept

  • Approve a revised patent policy

  • Approve the merger of the Departments of Geography and Earth Systems and Geoinformation Sciences in the College of Science, creating a new Department of Geography and Geoinformation Science, effective July 1

  • Approve a tenure clock extension for special situations
