Changes in Prince William Campus Administration Announced

Ronald Carmichael, formerly general manager for the Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center, has been named the executive officer for the Prince William Campus.

This primary coordination and management position is responsible for development and operations of the campus and reports to Vice President for Regional Campuses Lawrence Czarda. Prior to joining Mason’s staff in 1999 when the Freedom Center first opened, Carmichael served for more than 33 years in the U.S. Army, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, and retired as a lieutenant colonel.

Leslie Shinners, MPA ’02, is currently performing duties as the interim general manager at the Freedom Center. She has been with the center since its opening in 1999 as assistant general manager for programs. Prior to joining the Freedom Center, Shinners worked for Mason’s Fairfax Aquatic and Fitness Center and the Prince William County Park Authority. An active triathlete, she recently traveled to New Zealand to participate in the Ironman World Triathlon Championship.
