Men’s Basketball Team Prepares for CAA Tournament

The Mason men’s basketball team (20-10, 12-6) finished tied for second place with UNC Wilmington in the regular season standings in the Colonial Athletic Association, but will be seeded no. 3 at the CAA Tournament in Richmond this weekend.

The Seahawks tied the Patriots with an identical 12-6 conference record, but won the tie-breaker after defeating Mason twice this season. The Patriots will play their first game Saturday at 8:30 p.m. against the winner of the Northeastern/James Madison game.

In the meantime, the team will be practicing daily in preparation for the tournament. Immediately after Thursday’s noon practice, the team will depart for Richmond. The team hotel is the Richmond Marriott.

The game/TV schedule is as follows:

Saturday, March 8, 8:30 p.m. quarterfinal (CN8)

Sunday, March 9, 5:30 p.m. semifinal (CN8)

Monday, March 10, 7 p.m. CAA final (ESPN)

Buses will be available for all faculty, staff and students who are interested in cheering on the team during the CAA tournament. Buses are reserved for each day that Mason plays. Students will be charged a $10 deposit, refundable once they arrive at the bus. Faculty and staff will be charged a nonrefundable $10 fee. Bus tickets can be purchased in the Student Activities Office, Student Union Building I, Room 101.
