Events Management, the unit responsible for organizing Mason’s annual holiday party for faculty and staff, always has fresh ideas. This year, the staff has combined two prevalent Mason themes of global awareness and Patriot spirit and rolled them into one. The result: “Where in the World Is Gunston?”
Mason’s mascot, Gunston, can’t be missed at the holiday party. The event, which will be hosted by President Alan Merten and Sally Merten, will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall. Partygoers can have their photo taken with the furry fellow and choose from a selection of international settings for a background.
In addition, Mason’s Jazz Ensemble, led by music professor Jim Carroll, will be back by popular demand to play holiday and international tunes. Other entertainment will be provided by a henna tattoo artist, the Kendu martial arts team, the Breaksamous break-dancing performers and a group performing native Pakistani dances.
The food selection will also have an international flair. The menu will boast such diverse delicacies as crepes, sushi, shrimp and more.
Don’t forget to bring a new unwrapped toy or nonperishable food item for the Staff Senate’s holiday collection. Drop off donations at the cinema before or during the party.
The Prince William and Arlington Campuses will have their holiday luncheons at noon on Dec. 19 and 20, respectively.
