Now that you’ve got your brand-new 2008 calendar ready (or soon will), it’s time to clear the decks and pencil in Mason’s 2008 Homecoming Week: Feb. 11-15.

Mason Rocks pass
The Mason Rocks theme and design were developed by art and visual technology student Sara Newdorf.

This year’s Homecoming theme, “Mason Rocks,” and logo design were selected through a student competition in which the winner, art and visual technology major Sara Newdorf, won $200.

Although there will be plenty of “rockin'” events that week, the highlight undoubtedly will be when the men’s basketball team plays the University of North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks on Feb. 16. Tip-off time is scheduled for either 6 or 8 p.m. (depending on television coverage). The game will be preceded by the 10th annual block party in Lot A and followed by fireworks over Mason Pond.

It’s not too early to apply to enter the Born to Rock Talent Show, which will be held on Wednesday, Feb., 13, at 7 p.m. in the Johnson Center atrium. All Mason undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to participate.

Keep your eye on the Homecoming web site for the latest details and schedule.
