Harold Gortner Distinguished Speaker Series Features Comptroller General

David M. Walker, comptroller general of the United States, will talk about the long-term fiscal policy challenges facing the nation as part of the Harold Gortner Distinguished Speaker Series, presented by the Department of Public and International Affairs on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Walker was appointed the seventh comptroller general and began his 15-year term in October 1998. As comptroller general, Walker serves as head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office, a legislative branch agency whose mission is to improve the performance and assure the accountability of the federal government for the benefit of the American people.
The free event will take place at the Fairfax Campus from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Research I Building, Room 163. A reception will follow. For more information, visit the Department of Public and International Affairs web site.
