The opening of the Fairfax Campus’s two newest residence halls – Blue Ridge and Shenandoah – will be officially commemorated with a ribbon cutting ceremony led by President Alan Merten at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28. An ice cream social will immediately follow. The campus community is invited to attend.

The two residence halls are part of a new complex called the Northeast Sector Development that will eventually have seven multistory buildings, five of them residence halls. The ceremony will be held in the courtyard that adjoins the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah buildings.

The Northeast Sector Development project represents the largest single construction undertaking in Mason’s history. In addition to the student housing accommodations, it will include a new convenience store, game rooms, meeting and gathering rooms, state-of-the-art art exhibition dining center, basketball court, exercise room and restaurant.
