Tracy D. Lee, associate vice president for university development, has been named interim vice president for university development and alumni affairs, effective July 1.
Since joining Mason in 2000, Lee has served successively as director of foundation relations, director of corporate and foundation relations and interim director of university development before appointment to her present position in September 2004.
As associate vice president, she has been responsible for a central staff of 16 and for communication and coordination with 12 directors of development based throughout the university. She also led the development operations through the last year of Mason’s first comprehensive campaign, the Campaign for George Mason University, which raised $142 million, exceeding its goal by $32 million.
From 1989 to 2000, Lee served in development at the University of Washington, where her positions included campaign coordinator and director of development programs–medical affairs. From 1986 to 1988, she held development positions at the Brookings Institution. She has a BA from Dickinson College and an MBA from SUNY-Binghamton.
Lee has been a presenter for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the American Prospect Research Association, and an officer of the Northwest Development Officers Association, among other professional activities.
Her appointment follows the resignation of Judith Jobbitt, vice president for university development and alumni affairs and president of the George Mason University Foundation since 1999. Jobbitt’s resignation is effective June 30. Lee will continue as associate vice president for university development as a search continues for Jobbitt’s replacement.
