Grad Week 2007

It’s finally here — Grad Week 2007. In just three short weeks, Mason’s graduating seniors will be processing in the Patriot Center in green caps and gowns and celebrating the completion of the hard work of their college years.

In the meantime, Grad Week offers a variety of events to give seniors a break before finals and an opportunity to find out how to stay involved with Mason after graduation.

Activities are sponsored by University Life, Career Services, the Office of Alumni Affairs, the George Mason University Alumni Association and the Office of Annual Giving. All events will be held at the Fairfax Campus. A complete schedule is listed below.

Tuesday, May 1

Grad Week Kiosk: Cap Decorating and Make-a-Card for your Grad

10 a.m. to noon, Johnson Center, Kiosk F


How are your family and friends going to spot you at Commencement? Come decorate your cap so you can stand out in the crowd. The Grad Week kiosk will also have additional giveaways, information about your transition from Mason, and a schedule of the week’s activities.

Wednesday, May 2

“Moving On” Fair

10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Dewberry Hall Lobby


It is time to move on from Mason. Join us at the “Moving On” fair to prepare for this transition. Pick up your free copy of Moving On, Mason’s Guide for Career Planning and Job Search. Learn about alumni discounts and benefits offered by Athletics, the Aquatic and Fitness Center and the Alumni Association. Sign up for PatriotJobWeb, Mason’s job listing and employer database. Check out Continuing Education, Graduate Admissions and Annual Giving to learn more about ways to stay connected to Mason.

Alumni Association Welcome Brunch

10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Dewberry Hall


Join fellow graduating students, alumni, and Mason administration at a free brunch for all graduating students. Pick up your ticket to the brunch in the Office of Alumni Affairs, Johnson Center Room 122, just behind Taco Bell. Limited tickets available.

Young Alumni Happy Hour

7 to 9 p.m., Brion’s Grille

All graduating students are invited to gather at Brion’s Grille to meet and mingle with recent Mason graduates. Come out to socialize and learn more about staying involved with Mason after you graduate.

Friday, May 4

Game of the Week: Baseball

Patriots vs. ODU


Game time: 3 p.m.

Grads enjoy special recognition. Mason seniors sporting a Grad Week T-shirt will receive a free hot dog at the game.

Every Freakin’ Friday

9 p.m., Johnson Center Atrium


Live Band: Recycled Percussion

9 p.m. and midnight, “Ghost Rider” at the Johnson Center Cinema

Free Food

4th Annual Student Giving Party

10 p.m. to 1 a.m., Bistro


The Office of Annual Giving invites graduates to the 4th Annual Student Giving Party. This party is open to all students who make a gift to George Mason University. Gifts may be designated to your college, your major, athletics, scholarships — wherever you choose to give. Your gift of $50, $25, $20 or $5 makes a difference. To participate in this party you may make your gift online at give.gmu.edu or make your gift at the door. Free food and drinks, and all participants will be entered into a raffle to win an iPod.
