Former Mason Employee Morris Jones Dies

Morris R. Jones, 86, an employee at George Mason University who retired in 2004 after 20 years of service, passed away on Monday, April 2. Memorial services for Jones will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Fairfax Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 9900 Braddock Road.
Jones is survived by his wife, Romaine, eight children, and four grandchildren.
During his tenure at Mason, which began in 1984, Jones held several positions. They included stints as the surplus property manager and property control manager in the fixed assets office and as an assistant locksmith in the key control office.
Prior to joining Mason, Jones had a long and varied career of public service that included serving in the U.S. Army, as a manager with the U.S. geological survey, and as an administrator with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
After retiring from the Army in 1977, Jones served as a school bus driver for Fairfax County Public Schools, a state construction inspector, and as head manager of Northern Virginia Community College’s support services division.
